• Why do you like technology and innovation?

I’ve liked having classes related to science and innovation since I was small, because I was very curious, I liked playing around with the magic of electronics and coding, and I also love the feeling of accomplishment whenever I complete a project.

• What did you learn from these projects?

I learned tons of knowledge and abilities from my makers’ projects. First, I learned about how the electronic parts work. Second, I also learned to use a programming app called Mixly to program my machines, which was very important for my current project Powerstone.

The creation of Powerstone

• What are some obstacles you faced?

Although the electronics part of the project went smoothly, there was difficulty during the creation of the outer shell. My measurements were off and after I tried to fit the electronics into the shell, they didn’t fit. I had to make a new model for the outer shell to make it fit.

I also realized that my prototype may not be allowed on planes due to the strict regulations on power banks. My prototype’s battery was too big and it was not removable. Therefore, I created a new model, using rechargeable cells, which were removable and were allowed on long distance travel.

The target users of Powerstone are people who are going on a long trips, people who are embarking on a journey through wild places, and people who often forget to charge their phones, or run out of battery because of excessive use.

The Future of Powerstone

• How can I improve Powerstone?

There are several improvements that i wish to make to Powerstone in the future. First, I want to make an accurate percentage for how much power is left, since my current calculations based on voltage is inaccurate. I also want to make the screen show how much CO2 emmissions have been prevented by using Powerstone. Finally, I wish to make Powerstone have cooler decorations, and ideally make it look like a mineral, resembling the “stone” part of Powerstone.
